Timberborn is an ingenious city-building sandbox game developed by Mechanistry where humans are long gone, and highly evolved, intelligent beavers have taken over the Earth. This unique “lumberpunk” colony simulator tasks you with managing one of two distinct beaver factions: the nature-loving, farming-focused Folktails or the heavily industrialized, machine-driven Iron Teeth. Each faction features exclusive technologies and architectural styles.

The core gameplay centers on resource management and surviving recurring, harsh seasons of extreme droughts and devastating toxic waste waves. To keep your rodent colony alive and thriving, you must master deep water physics and 3D terrain manipulation by building complex networks of dams, floodgates, canals, and aqueducts to redirect vital lifelines. Because building space on the grid is tightly restricted, the game encourages complex vertical architecture, allowing you to stack wooden lodges and production workshops safely on top of one another.

As your civilization expands, you can automate hazardous labor by designing advanced mechanical bots, and establish self-controlling machinery using relays and sensors. Beyond basic survival, you must actively care for your beavers’ well-being by expanding their diets, providing fun entertainment, and constructing monumental structures to fully restore the planet.
